Neil Ions is best-known for his beautiful ocarinas and “whistling pieces”. His work is influenced by his study of Native American ceramics, music and the natural world. His recent sculptural pieces have been inspired by twentieth century painting, particularly surrealism.
Neil studied sculpture at Newport College of Art, and ceramics at the Royal College of Art in London. He has exhibited in many galleries throughout Britain, including the Crafts Council and the CPA shop in London, and he has work in museum collections, including the V&A.

This workshop offers the opportunity to make your own whistling piece under Neil’s expert tuition. Materials are provided but you will need to bring an apron, your own tools and a board to work on. The masterclass will cost £25 for members and £35 for non-members. Places are very limited, so book now!
