'ALL WRAPPED UP'

Georgie Phipps is taking part in her first show as a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists:  'All Wrapped Up' at the Salthouse Gallery in St. Ives.  Without wanting to spoil the surprise, she has been learning to throw straight sided dishes on the wheel this Autumn and has been inspired by the French 'Eau' covers!

Show – Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December 2015 - 10am – 6pm

Annual “Home for Christmas” show here at Penhale Jakes.
This year, we have introduced new makers for you to meet. As in past years, we have encouraged the makers to be with us in order that you may meet them and discuss with them the finer points of their work. It has been encouraging that so many of our customers want to come along and enjoy the good company.
A glass of wine and a mince pie will help start the Christmas festivities! We hope that you will be able to come along and bring your friends too.
If you would like to pass this invitation on to your friends, then please do – we would love to meet them.

Of BRUSH and CLAY

Of BRUSH and CLAY: Painter Potters of the mid 20th Century
Painter Potters of the mid 20th Century looks at the work of Sam Haile, William Newland, Margaret Hine, Nicholas Vergette, potters who took British studio ceramics on a new course, rejecting the sombre Orientalism of Bernard Leach and his followers and using their pots as an artist’s canvas.

Of Brush and Clay offers a rare opportunity to look at this influential but comparatively neglected area of ceramics and to admire the work of these highly individual artists. Around thirty pieces will be in the exhibition, some on loan from private collections have not been shown in public for many years.

Bristol Guild, Park St, Bristol.
19th September – 9th December inclusive

Sally and Simon Giles hosted the venue at their pottery and supplied everyone with teas, coffees and cakes for the whole day, it was attended by 16 members & non members. The weather was kind by staying dry with a few passing glimpses of sun. We had 9 wheels working at the same, time with throwers, none throwers hand builders and glass makers.
